Understand the Ratings
Adding MET (Metabolic Equivalent Task) ratings is a smart way to differentiate your apparel because warmth depends heavily on activity level. Hunters understand the difference between sitting in a stand and hiking to a setup.
MET 2 Rating
Represents low-activity hunting situations such as treestand hunting, blind hunting, calling, and extended periods of sitting.

Human temperature regulation follows the core–shell model, where the body prioritizes keeping the core (head and torso) warm while allowing the extremities, the shell, to cool if necessary.
In cold environments, the brain rapidly reduces blood flow to the hands and feet through peripheral vasoconstriction to conserve heat for survival. This is why fingers and toes are especially vulnerable to getting cold.
Cold extremities are usually the result of insufficient insulation across the rest of the body, not just exposure at the hands or feet.

The Institute is an interdisciplinary research center for the study of the thermal interaction of people and their surroundings. It is one of the few centers in the world with the controlled environmental chambers and supporting instrumentation necessary to study the aspect of human comfort. IER research deals with thermal comfort, thermal stress, clothing systems, indoor environmental engineering, and related topics.
Tested Warmth
We scientifically tested all our Nested Whitetail Gear at Kansas State University’s Institute for Environmental Research. The Institute is an interdisciplinary research center for the study of the thermal interaction of people and their surroundings. It is one of the few centers in the world with the controlled environmental chambers and supporting instrumentation necessary to study the aspect of human comfort. IER research deals with thermal comfort, thermal stress, clothing systems, indoor environmental engineering, and related topics.
Compared to leading competition, the Double Down™ Parka and Bibs are more efficient at trapping heat but do so with about half the weight. Our Double Down™ Parka and Bibs utilize THINDOWN® insulation. It offers all the natural advantages of down, in a thin and lightweight profile.
Down is the most efficient insulation, but the baffling required with loose down creates stitch lines where heat can escape. THINDOWN® eliminates the need for baffling and therefore addresses the shortcoming of loose down, maximizing heat retention with an overall thinner profile.
